Book Blogger Hop #13

Book Blogger Hop

The Book Blogger Hop is a weekly bookish party/meme run by Jennifer@Crazy For Books

Another week, another hop, this week's question is:

"What do you consider the most important in a story: the plot or the characters?"

Well, I think that over all plot is what gets me to read a book, but to finish and like it, I must like the characters - they have to be engaging, dynamic, I have to either love them of find them deliciously evil (a la Regina George), I have to be invested in the outcome.

Plot alone won't get me invested, much as the writing can be beautiful, if I don't care for the characters I won't recommend the book or re-read it (case in point, Frankie Landay-Banks, though the plot was sounded so good, and I so wanted like it and the writing was cleaver, I hated Frankie for most of the book, and even though I finished it, it was a struggle).

A good book has to have a combination of both, but I admit I mind less a vague, pointless plot than a vague, pointless character
